So what about Cyprus (that you just mentioned).  That's pretty major - RAF Akrotiri is farking huge.  It's also 'quite close to the Middle East' and is therefore often used as a staging point for operations in the Middle East.  Oh, and Germany "was quite close to the Mid East", has it moved?

				I meant "major" overseas bases apart from Cyprus. None of the ones you listed come under that category. Theres no fighters based at Gibraltar or the Falklands if im correct? The point I was trying to make is that there doesnt seem much point spending umpteen billions on so many Eurofighters that are going to be so far away from the action when a crisis kicks off.
