as a potential RM recruit, the recruiting officer wants to know what the potential recruit knows about the RM.
when i opted to join, they were not in the news every day like know. as a youngdter, i had never heard of the RM.
todays recruits see the RM on telly nearly every day, in news reports, etc, but do todays recruits know the history (of which the RM are sumwhat damn proud). so they want to know why some1 wants to join a corps, that from 1945 to 1968 were on active duty non stop.
1968 is officially the only year that RM wernt on active duty ( although a marine was still killed that year).
marines are encouraged to use their initiative, so if you cant use it to join, what use are you going to be when you pass out.
