Ran a mile the other day on a treadmill in 6:40, not bad for me seeing as I haven't done any fitness for the past month and a bit.
Find running on a treadmill boring aswell

In my cross country days, I used to run 1500m in about 5m 15s. Don't think I can do it that fast now though

Well greg-s, I still hold my old school record for the 1500m and that is 4min 15 sec's and I was 15 when I did that, I used to be able to do the individual part of a BFT in 7.40!!

No porkies there mate
Now I would be lucky to do the 1500m in under 6mins but I bet I wouldn't be far off

nah i dont look like an ethiopean, Its only running a mile,i would agree if it was someting like 10k in a fast time but a mile in that sorta time is nothing compard to some people i know. Ispend quite alot of time training just on running 1500 and 800.

Me dad's is not Roger Bannister, I was just a very good middle distance runner when I was a kid, represented the school, region, county and S of England then decided to join the Army. As my training wore on, my track times became slower but my endurance/stanina got better....
The Cross Country team we had as juniors was unbeaten for the whole season, and I wasn't the best runner we had!!!

Marathon runners... (who regularly run marathons and half marathons etc.) are always like twigs. Then you look at the muscles on Linford Christie. Long distance works your muscles in a different way. I wouldn't have thought 1500m running would make you lose much weight. I do 3 x 5 mile runs a week at the moment, and my weight is remaining steady. Mind you, I eat truckloads.
