At the end of the day, the simple fact is that your folks are raising you to be able to go off and live your own life, and if this is what you wanna do, then you should do it. They'll come round in the end, and if they don't then it's unfortunate.

MY parents were proud that I wanted to join , even my Dad who'd done National Service and hated it !

Anyway, i recently told my parents that i would like to join the royal artillery, and, well.... you can guess their reaction.
I most certainly can my old fellah has never forgiven ME for my Brother Joining the Artillery, Seriously look them in both in the and tell them you r joining cos you want to and then tell them you love them , That should do the trick , my Daughter uses it all the time to get her own way, and My lad has expressed a desire to find out about joining up, told him to finish off at UNI then think about it.
Good Luck with Your plans

Do what you need to do yourself buddy, I come from an all forces background and my Mother was worried sick about me joining when I was a kid so I didn't bother, then came back to the idea when I was a few years older, met a girl who also would not have it. Now I am 29 and have come back to the same mental place and as a compromise giving my age am joining the TA with the option of becoming a reg for a few years at a later date.
Don't hide from yourself or let others define you, you'll come back to the same conclusion in the end!!

All the best with it Ben - as you say they will come round to the idea, and I'm sure they will be very proud of you at the end of the day.
Good luck!

If you haven't got a girlfriend then join now before you get one, your parents will get over it in the end................... if I was single right now I would be straight down the AFCO!!!
