Im like the worlds most fortunate tw*t. On the treadmills-i crank it up to bout 10mph,but after i while i start to veer over to one side- the solution-take bigger strides-i discovered that today-and it dont seem as if ur running as fast either :D

when I went for my rt test I was 52kg and had too reach the minimum of 60 too carry on with the application I thought the same as you "shit i'll get fat and fitness will drop rapidly". It didn't it took me 5 months, but I got alot stronger and still trained and got quite good scores at prmc so you can do it mate.

Treadmills only seem to be able to take a certain about of speed, if your a tall git like me then the strides are too small on a treadmill compared with the road. On a road there a factors that can affect your speed, hills, wind, weather and if you can/cant be arsed.

At top speed on a treadmill i can keep on but my knees nearly crack the hold bar lol

Rob is absolutley right there. You should really get out and run about up hills through mud, wind, rain or snow or whatever comes your way as it helps alot more than running on a perfect surface. The running machine is good for cardio if u crank it up and keep it going.

Lol i'd laugh if they had a power cut, no im just kidding mate... thats a sight to see... top speed on the running machine. Never tried it myself... id probably fall on my arse

fodd wrote:lol i had the oppisite problem i was 18 stone and a 44 inch waist now i start recruit training for the marines in a week! if i can loose 6 stone and loose 10 inches of me waist im sure you can put a little bit of weight on!!!just :drinking:
You know that it's been prooven, its harder to gain weight than it is to loose it? Thats right so all you over weight ppl need to find a new excuse  . No im just joking about, it's hard either way to gain or loose weight but apparently it is easier to loose it. Just and interesting fact there :-?

I'm about 5 foot 10 ish or around ther, i've forgotten now, and i weigh 11 stone or there abouts. I was 64. something Kgs when i did my prmc (Jan 13th-16th). I'm fairly light (i was lighter) and i just scoffed scrambled egg on toast (for the protein) did some jobs about the house till it had time to settle down, then started training. This protein powder stuff sounds interesting i might have a look into that, even though im two weeks away from basic. I know a bloke who is ex para and SF, and he used the stuff doing weights. He farted constantly, and it was probably the most horrific stench i will ever witness in my life... im talking rotten eggs kinda smell x10. Never smelt nethin like it :-?

Re-Running on treadmills. I've given up gym visits for the mo-im quitting me job and using the time to go running cross country and that. There are quite a few dirt tracks/country lanes/hills round where i live-so it'll be fun trying to tackle em all-whilst improving me times!

Definatley a good move mate. Yea run yourself all around those hills and you'll be fit in no time. If you want to improve your heart and lungs (cardio or whatever) try some hill reps. Find a hill that takes a fair while to get up (officially it should be a hill that takes a minute to get up) but a hill that knackers you and makes you out of breath is good enough. And sprint up it, then recover on the way down. Start off with two a day and add more... or do however many you feel like doing  . Yea i'm Germany and live in hill country... so i go running through valleys down valleys up valleys and hills and all kinds of stuff. Totally knackers you but after doing it alot it becomes easier. Try and find time to do hill reps... and do them regularly... you'll get sick if you do it alot... dont get worried about it, just thro up to the side and keep going. After doing it for a long time you wont believe how easy it is to breathe whilst running. Even over distance. Of course you get out of breath still when you're beasted but where you used to be breathing out your arse you can stop and have a normal conversation without having to catch your breath again. Oh dear i've gone on again haven't I  . When are you signing up?

When i say "i'm Germany" what i really mean is "i'm in Germany"

So yea, already were getting a little group of people who are meeting eachother before we get there. I'm gonna start a thread for people who are joining on March 15th, keep and eye out for it :) .

I haven't got my train times or flight times (live in Germany :-? ) so i honestly couldn't tell you mate. I'll keep you updated. You broken in your boots? Hows the training coming along? The other lads i've spoken too said they've been really lazy and slack with their training  . I'm makin the new thread as we speak.
