Interesting, thank you for a good mixture of replies. if you dont wish to correspond with me any further then dont loz but i find it highly unlikely that you where ever an IRA target and therefore dont need to worry do you, besides which some 70 y old bloke in a pub is hardly likely to be connected anymore, at least not to the more dangerous and active republicans, in fact it would be exactly the opposite as the old school provos and stickies hate the real iRA and oppose them at any opportunity, the provos etc know that they cannot win a war against superior forces and that the way to get what they want is with politics and votes.

I am not a republican sympathiser, never was and never will be, I think it is sad that some on here revert to being derogatory about other peoples beliefs.

I always thought that the Brits went and helped those who were in need, it seems that I was wrong. I find it hard to believe that there are any ex special forces soldiers on here, they would be more than aware of an operation from the late 80's called dark cloud here in Ulster.

It has been a dirty war here, many have died on both sides, the rules are non existent and remain the rules that many have to live thier lives by daily, I hope that I can continue to spark some lively debate on this forum and will continue to ask BONE questions!!!!!!!!!!

#1 - You can't help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.
#2 - The IRA and the other 'factions' on whatever side have fought there dirty war. The actual army has not.

for me as a german it's not to understand, what's there's going on in ireland. On both (or three) sides are people, who have nothing better to do, then hate each other - and the third in any case. And they talk about battles some hundred years ago? Oh lord - in germany we had the romans (think of our famous victory, where the Germans killed 3 roman legions...), the 100-years-war... the 30-years-war...napoeleon...religious wars (Luther), the inquisition... so we would have a lot of reasons, to hate each other - but why? Why is the irish people so stupid, to follow such ignorants, forcing the walls between two sides of a street???? CHILDREN can't go to school, because their parents hate the parents of the other side...

But probably, I see this without the historicak background and that the one sides presses the other and whatever reasons those idiots think of.

If I see, that I live in Europe of 21. Century - thinking of Ireland, I believe to be in middle age..
