So Slimer have you actually worked with TA Int people (apart from those who have switched to the Regs)? Is there much integration? Do the TA guys (& gals) get to go for All Arms and P-Co. or are they more office based?

Yeah, the last course I did had a TA Lt on it, and my current unit has a TA Section attached to it who work on projects alongside the Regulars, although most are SNCOs who've been regulars at some point. There seems to be quiet a few positions availible for FTRS in the Corps if thats something you fancied.

Just being nosey to be honest Slimer

I don't think I ever figured out just what the job (OpInt&Sy) was all about and wondered how the TA fitted in with whatever it is you fellas do. So did you join after they'd switched to everyone doing languages or did you go through when it was two seperate roles? (still being nosey I'm afraid

) Do you know if the TA Int require you to have language aptitude?

I'm an old(er) Dark Sider, before the OPMI change. Not everyone has to do languages, all recruits complete OPMI training (basically the old Int&Sy course with some add-ons), then if they wish to, and have the aptitude, they then move on to language training. I don't speak a language other than some (very) rough farsi, and I don't intend on ever doing a language. There are plenty of other specialisations in the Corps to be flexable with your career.
As for the TA, I'm not sure if there are any linguists other than those who join with language skills due to the cost of training - I believe the vast majority of TA Int Corps are "just" OPMI.

all the old Int Corps OPSI's were referred to as dark siders along with some Signals trades.

OPSI(Analyst) and OPSI(Linguist) - the guys who left you never to be seen again after the first bit of Phase 2.

A few more questions Slimer

Is the job what you thought it would be then, has it lived up to your expectations? Did you join direct or come in from another unit? Have you done a stint at the ATR busting in sprogs? Any decent tours? Are there any decent tours?
Told you I was nosey

Intelligence and maybe not so!

I worked with Int. Corps (slime) all my career - good blokes mostly (only chatted to the lady analysts on the teleprinter - we didn't have female int with us at our regt).
I was with R. Sigs as EWOP and as an alternative to Int Corps, they are a good (ish) choice if you don't mind putting in the time digging lots of 'oles and pretending every now and then to be PBI!

I have to admit that I met a member of the Intelligence Corps when I did basic down at Guildford. Intelligent wasn't the word I would have used for her and her phys doesn't bear thinking about.

(In order)
Yes and No - I've had some pleasent surprises.
I joined direct although I was in the RAuxAF Rock Ape for two years while I was at college.
no - and I don't plan to - the thought of being posted to an ATR is about as appealing as a taking my eye out with a teaspoon
yes - I've had some good tours but I've had some jobs I've hated - luck of the draw
There are some fantastic jobs in the corps - but some terrible ones too, just depends what your into really and luck of the draw. I'm fourth tour now, and I've had numerous dets, and I can say that I don't think I've done the same job in any of them.

Isn't a stint at an ATR part and parcel for improving promotion prospects?
