Minor point gents, you can't kick when milling (however tempting). If you try and box you will be stopped and re-started. They don't want to see technique or style, you don't get any points for it.

In P-Coy it is a test of controlled aggression, the staff are just as likely to award you points if you put up an aggressive performance even if you get knocked down.

Of course obviously I wouldn't want to permantly damage my mate in a milling session. I just wondered how far you are supposed to go, and how far you'd be expected to go. I mean, if you went easy on someone, would they say you were holding back, and therefore being bloody useless? Are we talking about "go mad, punch and beat till victory or severe pain ensues" or are we talking "old fashioned sleeves rolled up walking round in circles jabbing at each others heads"?

k, well im not in hospital.

i did have a bit of a run in, i was walking 2wards my 3rd local and saw these lads on the other side if the road, and they were looking at me but then i sed "yeah, what U looking at?" and started walkin 2wards them, but then oli and dan pulled me 2wards the pub, "the tut", (northern rash, u mite have known it as the "felis and firkin"?), and the drink appealed more to me than being kicked several layers thinner of fecal matter.

oh well. bed now, but 26 chin ups (2x13) b4

this may be a stupid question and is probably answered earlier in this section and I can't be arsed to read through the banter. But, can you punch in the face or head butt or fore arm or bite or drop any unorthadox fighting techneques?

It isn't the 'Ultimate Fighting Championship', it's controlled aggression, plain and simple.

You may get a crack off an elbow or head - but it's usually non-intentional - PTI's will take a dim view of anyone deliberately throwing elbows and heads around - as for biting ???? Get real :x

Jesus Christ, it looks like someone was peckish.

Knowing my luck when I get to the milliing part of things. I'll get put up against an ex regional boxing champ, and get knocked out cold in 5 seconds.

What ?

Perhaps we should have a national 'Milling Day' to raise awareness on milling

A little Q & A for you...

Location: Usually the Gymnasium

Is there a ring like in boxing ? No, there is usually just a circle of recruits and PTI's surrounding - 'cheering' you on :P

It is bare fist like this man below ?

Image

No, you are equipped with 16oz (Giant) Boxing gloves and headguard

What if I get knocked down, will I hurt myself on the hard gymnasium floor: No, the PTI's will have placed lots of spongy mats down to cushion any knockdowns that happen

What happens when there is a knockdown ?: If it's a slip, the PTI will separate you and then order to re-commence (just like boxing) until there is a proper knockdown - With real knockdowns, it usually stops there but can depend on the PTI - they have a good eye for knowing when a person goes down 'intentionally' or has been properly clobbered

Will I be laughed at if I get knocked down ? : Depends on the circumstances as someone has already said, if you give 110%, then the PTI's will be satisfied with that

Anymore for anymore ?

Can you fail the whole course. say for example if you come across as a bit of a fairy when milling (not saying I am but for those who are)?

If you have any 'fairy tendencies', these will spotted at PRMC stage and that person will almost certainly fail.

You cannot earn the green beret without aggression - it's as simple as that - so the likelihood of someone giving it 'Please don't hurt me' and dancing about is virtually nil.
