These "imbedded" journalists are answerable to the unit CO of whatever unit they are travelling with and he has complete authority to restrict their movement/footage, cut their feeds or tell them to piss off. This is the contract their news service signed to get this access. I believe that it's vital in a democracy to see what happens when our leaders give the go ahead for war. From what I've been seeing so far, the imbedded journos have been respecting opsec and keeping out of the way.

My cousins son is with A co. so I asked what the family thoughts were.
They were really pleased that the reporters seem to be giving a true report on how professional the RM units were behaving, and most importantly they know day to day what is going on.

They are 24/7 with TV and radio, unlike our time in the SA they are bang up to date with true accounts and none of the 'one of our ships has been sunk' reporting. The good side is that families know within 24 hours so the worry process is short, no real consollation though!

So I think we could be wrong in some respects about the reporting.
