The thing that occured in my platoon in training was our corporals smashing their weapons over our heads (with helmets on obviously!). And you would only get it if you dropped a bollock big time. One of our lads had an ND with the GPMG on exercise, so my section commander wrapped his weapon over the guys head for f*cking up, and he broke his handguard in doing it. Funnyest thing iv seen for a long time. And the guy who received it will never make that mistake again.

Nobody would ever have concidered that bullying. However, if one recruit had a weapon smashed over his head every time we got the weapons out of the armoury then i would think he would have good grounds to go and complain!! Either that or he is the biggest mong known to man

You always get the piss taking that goes on. But it keeps you alive, the banter and the laughs is why we are the best army in the world.

This acctually happened too me.
I was DS on a recruit training programme in Brecon.
We were on a "live" advance to contact and the gimmpy had to cover them in.
The gun team had to, on my command ,switch fire when the "enemy" opened fire. He didn't, and I hit him on the head with a log that was lying nearby, he switched.
Unknow to to me the the CO of recruit wing was standing behind me, I thought I was in the shyte, but he just told me to make sure he had his helmet on. (btw he had). :)

I remember when we were doing P Company a PTI just loved getting blokes into the ring and knocking seven bells out of them. Well one day we set him up, we had a chap who was an ABA boxing champion doing P Company so we got him to talk while the PTI was sounding off. Well as expected he was picked out and gloved up ready for the PTI to work him over. Well we stood there an watched the PTI get taken to bits, but to the the PTI credit he took the pasting nor did any one call time during the one and only round until the deed was done. Was it bullying on the part of the PTI or was that extra training you get for this sort of unit, just to see if you can take it as well as give it out.

Tab,

If the same recruit was orderd to "glove up" and get into the ring every PT session then i would concider that bullying. If he did it to everyone then as you rightly said, its extra training that is going to help controlled agression in the face of fear.

Paratrooper..1 No the chap seemed to pick out people that were not paying attention or not putting the effort into the training.

Guardian of The Wall wrote:I don't know about Catterick but there is bullying in the infantry units- at first if they think you're weak. Deepcut barracks is another place where it happens- and 4 people have died there! :o

It probably only occurs in places where the "solid" people go. Infantry, logistics, places where " you don't need no brains Mack".

Go somewhere technical- you all have the power of knowledge and realise the people you work with are friends. E.g. REME or Royal Signals.
Thanks. You've just insulted a load of people on this forum. I'm a uni graduate and I know a few "solid" blokes just like me who are in the infantry, you tw*t. There are a number of safeguards up at ITC Catterick to prevent that sort of stuff and I never saw any bullying or heard of any when I was up there.

The problem with that is Ronnie, the rule would have to be applied with parity for all members. Result? Hardly any bugger left on here!
