the refusal to fly at night was in op telic.what the yanks did was unforgiveable, it left 40 cdo on their own and i`m sure if we`re ever unfortunate to work with the usa so closely again things will be very different.also you said the royal marines you worked with would have kicked us cry babies out for bitching.think again, i rarely reply to the posts on the this forum and usually its to give any advice to men hoping to join the royal marines, but it grips my shit to hear you yanks gob off about how great you are when people like myself and many others who have worked alongside you have seen first hand how bad the majority (not minority) of you are at your work.one more thing.if your ever so lucky to be in the company of a royal marine again ask him what he really thinks of you.i`m sure he`d be happy to tell you.

42,
Whatever, I don't know what the hell your problem is but I can assure you that you're not the only man who has been in combat. If you lost friends sorry. And who's gobbing off about how great we are??? DId I ever say that? NO. you Obviously don't like us and your reply says it all. so f@#k you. I don't like you either. And don't reply back with some I'll kick your ass crap unless your here in the California area.

:fist:
p.s. plenty of Rm's on this site have PM'd me and told me how they really think of me. And what they think of you...

US Marine, I had a hard time learning this lesson. But I will share it with you. Many people on this board don't like (however bizarrely infatuated with our country) The US nor the influence and power our country possesses. So they congregate on said board to complain about things none of us have any control over. So take it with a grain of salt b/c our cultures are very different and we will never see eye to eye.

USA,
I've had 5 or 6 differnt RM's PM me since my last post. They've given me the straight scoop. Always gonna be someone who dosen't like you. The important thing is most of the guys who sent me the PM's have alot of posts on here and are career and retired Rm's. Seems like a good bunch on here for the most part.

As far as I can see, 42 and Hedgie are relaying their experiences of what actually happened to them, which, if you read the title of this post, seems fair enough to me. They seem a bit pissed off about what happened - well, given the events they describe, wouldn't you be? I think they should be shown a bit more respect, after all they were there.

Glad you made it back lads

Just curious, if you had read the posts on the huge forum "free republic" that i saw, calling british soldiers cowards, the uk a trashpile etc etc. Would you have said a word to disagree?.

Just trying to show its not one way, with just uk troops having grievances against us,

Round and round and round this argument goes. The British troops have every right to be a little pissed off with the American pilots, and there is no way either of you American posters can deny that, so what say you just bite the bullet and do as you say "suck it up and drive on" aye???

There’s a good chap.

Just want to add my pennies worth to the conversation. US Marine since you have arrived I have seen a few of your post. And from what I have read it seems to me that you are a descent geezer. You only have good things to say about the Royal Marines. I am not a Royal Marine yet but I hope to join ASAP.

Now that kind of bollocks is going to get peoples blood boiling. USARMY has made some good points, but he sometimes post stuff like I have just shown you. He seems to like congregating on our said board.

Any way US Marine you seem ok to me..

Agreed... It's the way 42 said it not what he said. You can see I didn't say anything to Hedgie. I was not there, I don't know what happened or why. Hedgie essentialy said the same thing, but with out being quite as disrespectful. But honestly, and I've had alot of PM's concerning this and they were all great, do you think that us yanks just decided to screw 40 commando on purpose? Basically in combat there are Objectives some more important that others. I don't know the tactical reason the decision not to fly was made, but I'm willing to bet that it was way way above his pay grade. there are alot of whys after any battle, and it always seems the most unfair and blatant when bad shit happens to you and yours.

As far as respect goes, go back and read my posts BEFORE 42 trashed me and mine nothing but respect. And by the way, I've been in combat as well so I deserve respect too.

Hey Devil Dog, at ease with that "us yanks" crap. You have to admit it sounds ridiculous.

Jason The Argonaut, I was just trying to mediate. You can see the good it did. Besides I laid down my sword a few moons back.

"Game on"

...if you need me I'll be under the hood of my new sports car...hmmm modifications....

France to send special forces to Afghanistan
EVIAN, France (AP) - In a sign of reconciliation, President Jacques
Chirac told US President George W. Bush in talks Monday that he will
send French special forces to operate alongside US troops in
Afghanistan, Chirac's spokeswoman said.

"This decision taken by France corresponds both to a wish from the
United States and a wish from our country to take part in the
stabilization of Afghanistan, so it's a shared interest," said Chirac
spokeswoman Catherine Colonna.

Chirac "announced to President Bush that French special forces will
operate in Afghanistan with American forces," she said.

She would not say how many special forces troops would be sent. But she
said the troops would be separate from several hundred French soldiers
already in Afghanistan. Those troops are part of an international force
operating in the war-torn country or working as advisers training Afghan
soldiers.

"These are separate forces," Colonna said at a news conference after
Bush's talks with Chirac. "The decision that has been taken and
announced today concerns another type of force for, of course, other types of operations."
