joining age???

Hi
im 16 years old (17 in december) and im looking to join the royal marines reserves right now, i know this is on the wrong forum but the reserve one seems pretty dead to me and i was looking for a quick answer. Does anyone know for certain the minumum joining age, i have read you can join from the age of 16 once finished mandatory education (which i have) with both parents consent (which i also have) but i heard from other sources that i must wait till i am 17???
i appreciate it if somebody knew the answer to this question cound reply ASAP.

I'm in the TA waiting to join RM and I managed to join when I had just turnned 17, and there was still a bit of an issue with that as I was supposed to be 17 and a half. So I think it's probably 17 or 17 and 1/2 for RM. However to be sure go to a careers officer and ask.

Then why oh why did you ask the damn question in the first place then if you knew already?

because when i consulted my local AFCO they were very unsure, he said he thought 16 was the joining age and advised me to attend the presentation evening at RMR london and find out then which i intend to do but i just wondered if anyone had any solid answer because there seems to me to be total confusion over what the actual age limit is.

Yeah the youngest age to apply is 15yrs & 9months but i think the earliest age you can join is either 16 or 17.

You can apply at 15 and 9 months but cannot begin RT until 16 & 3 months.

It is 15 and 9 months to apply and 16 to join the regulars.
To join the reserves it used to be 17 1/2 but it is now 16 hope this helps .

it's 16, ive just put my application in and i finished mandatory education in June, so you can definately join at 16.hope this helps
