What is the difference between Special Brach and CRW?

I've looked on Met Police site and from I can gather they both tend to fight the same things.

So when is it decided if SB or CRW get sent in?

The reason I asked was because on the Met site under Counter Terrorsim Command http://www.met.police.uk/so/counter_terrorism.htm it lists 2 of the roles as:

To bring to justice those engaged in terrorist, domestic extremist and related offences
To provide a proactive and reactive response to terrorist, domestic extremist and related offences, including the prevention and disruption of terrorist activity

On 'Soldier X' website (written by someone who knew a friend in the SAS- www.stuff.themutual.net its lists the Anti-Terrorist-Team http://www.stuff.themutual.net/at.htm role as:

the heads of government made a secret pact to build up dedicated domestic forces capable of dealing with any terrorist situation

I'm sorry I first said CRW its not untill I found this site I found out about the anti terror team.

The answer to your question is quite simple, the Police decide when to relinquish command to the military.

The police handle all investigations into terrorism, if a situation occurs where force is necessary the police will use one of their armed response teams, however if the Police decide that the situation is no longer within their control, this would be when the decision is made to hand over control to the military.

To give you a quick example of this, The Iranian Embassy siege; the police responded and set up a cordon and tried negotiating with the terrorists, however once they realised that they couldn't talk them out without any further loss of life they handed over to the military (SAS) who then assaulted the building.

Hope that helps clarify a few things for you. But honestly mate if you want a serious answer to your questions in future you're going to have to change your attitude and grow up a bit.

I think you should give the guy a break - he's only deciding which unit he should join to give him maximum exposure to brassing-up terrorists, baddies and the like.

Unsure23 - If you're young enough I would join both - preferably 22 first, giving you the maximum amount of time to grow the requisite 'tash before being able to 'retire' to SO19 as an 'ex-desmond' and possibly have the bushiest 'tash on the wing.
