Smashing windows
Wow, a really random thing's just happened in my form room - no-one's thrown anything at it but one of the window's at the back of the room just started cracking...unbelieveable as it sounds it's just started cracking, can anyone explain why??!!! The caretakers came in and our sixth form tutor's trying to blame us for it, they now say the building moved!!!! As if...

Have a look at the crack and see if you can find an impact point (Ie. where something may have hit it from either side). If the window has been struck with something such as a stone or ball bearing (from a BB gun for example) then there will be a visible point where it hit (a chip similar to the sort found in car windscreens).
If this is not the case then it is probable that the crack has been caused by stress (Ie. stress on the frame of the window). This may be down to the window not being fitted properly, a defect at the point of manufacture or even that they are right and that the building is moving.
If your form tutor is trying to pin the blame on your class then ask the moron what qualifications he has in the area of building surveyance.

Aways look on the bright side of life.

Well there's no impact point - no dent anywhere. Must just be a freak thing. The building's only 6 years old and I believe the windows have been replaced in that time... As for the tutor, thankfully he's backed off now but he gave us all an earache - and he's a biology teacher, ali, so no he hasn't got any!!! Think they're called my dad to come and inspect it, will see what he says.... to be continued!!!

could be the cold from outside making the window very cold, and most the time radiators are by windows, if the heats combined I would imagine if they clashed well enough with different tempreatures that it would be possible for the window to crack, I mean it happens when people thrown hot water on their car windows because their frozen over etc, would seem a bit unlikely but Impossible Is Nothing!
