Well looks like lots has been going on during the season of goodwill and all that.
Shame I missed out on it all, but for some reason I've been unable to get access to the site..keep getting a 403 forbidden error and have done for a while.
Having to do this via a proxy.
So seeing as I cant be arsed having to go thru a proxy everytime I want to view here I'll be off.
Cheers Beast. Hope the site turns around and returns to what it once was.

has much to answer for - but there again - I'm never there - I'm Jedi -
it's against my religion to enter. The 'main' forum seems "cleaner"
This Forum is now defunct - it is to be compared to Monty Python's parrot.
I may be drawn into a discussion now and then - and will choose the
posters with care - but will join the ranks of lurkers again now.

As the originator of the thread you linked to, I'm possibly one of the "tosspots" you refer to however I'd be sad to see you bug out!
In the past I have jumped up and down, threw my teddies and had "ill tempered drips" However I've come to the conclusion that the only way to improve it is to stay and try and do something about it! There's no way one individual or even a handful can manage this alone so I'm asking you to stay and help!

I think one of the most alarming aspects of the change in this forum is the in-fighting among members of the broader RM family. When I joined this forum a few years back things were pretty tight among the RM pers and their cling-ons. In fact, that in itself had a down-side as far as the forum went, as new people would frequently get chewed a new a$$hole for supposedly failing to meet "the standard" in one aspect of forum "life" or another.
There was something rather high-handed and even pompouse about it, which I personally found distasteful, yet that was quite minor compared to the very good other aspects of the site. And, strangely, it even seemed to contribute to holding the site together.
Since key people have gone, however, we have seen a steady decline both in the quality of posts and in the standard of behaviour between forum members, including mods. I agree with the earlier statement that some mods (not all by any means) have become very heavy-handed and a bit too pleased with themselves since taking on their role.
The pettiness that is being displayed here now is the standard I would expect of spotty school kids, not grown men and women, some of whome are of pensionable age or approaching it. It really is shameful!
I have never been a part of the "in-crowd" on here and have no interest in such. I have only ever been on herr because it was a sort of link back to the "old country", being an ex-pat and there were also some decent people on here. Now, though, I find myself being less and less inclined to visit as, when I do, I invariably see the kind of dross and drivel I have just had the misfortune to read in this thread.
Far be it from me to throw my opinion about, but from where I sit it looks like a whole bunch of you buggers need to seriously get a farkin grip and GROW UP, FFS! Or, failing that, just go away! Preferably, the former as you no doubt have something valuable and valid yet to contribute. But FFS stop your damned whining, pi$$ing, and moaning. It is dross! Serious, weapons-grade farking dross!
Not everyone will get along all the time, but right now no effort is being made at all. For newcomers, it must look like the lunatics are running the asylum. And that's a shame, because we need quality new blood around here to keep this going, not dross, which is all that will eventually be attacted here if this keeps up!
