Advice for Aussie

A mate and i are thinking of moving to the UK with hopes of signing up and becomming a marine, so after doing research on it i stumbled to these forums and after reading through some posts it seems that most of u guys are pretty switched on with this shit, so id be more than grateful if some of u guys could give me some good advice and information that i need to know. G`day there bloke, hyryagoin
We are more than
Living in Adelaid mate? No wucking funder you want to leave
We`ve given advice to three Aussies so far. One is waiting til he`s eighteen to try prmc, one is in England now, waiting for the next course and the first one thinned out and I don`t know what the flock happened to him. Fire away with your questions but the minute you mention press up technique I`ll be over to the forgotten city and tear you a new arsehole, deal?
Oh, and er, welcome aboard Digger

Anywho, ive been told that because im alredy in the ADF when i travel to the UK i could use the british army lines to stay in for a while, is that true or just someone pissing in my ear? and also a little thing that has been on my mind lately is that back in my basic training days we had an ex brit soldier in my platoon and he was given the chance to be forward squaded im just wondering if thats the same here, not that i want that or anything, but just out of curiosity
They may provide you with accomodation for a couple of extra nights at CTC, they may not. Outside of your PRMC dates (ie. the rest of your selection process) I would say your chances of being given somewhere to stay are pretty slim (knowing Pusser as we all well do
), you can always ask tho.
They may offer you an assessment of your skills and slot you into training at the appropriate point; however, I would strongly advise you against this, as it takes time to learn to work with the other blokes, and there'll be little things that all the originals will have bred into them that you'll have missed out on. Also takes time to build up your phys, unless you're pretty superman-esque to start with. Plus no-one will like you and the training team will do their best to make sure you get back trooped again

Ahoy there!
Sound advice from Green Ronnie, physical fitness is a key element in RM training; but there is more to than that and you would be naive to ignore other areas on the grounds that if you are fit you will be OK.
Do a search on this site, there is loads of up to date advice from lads who have recently undergone RM training, ranging from reading material, bits of useful kit, handy hints and top tips. Also visit the official website there is plenty of info there.
Good Luck
Steve

physical fitness is a major influence, but the most important thing is strength of mind. it really is. ive struggled a little bit with some things and managed to get through them so far.
just finished week 9, our troop got a superior pass in gym pass out with 54 of us in there. it was a f**kin hang out. going on dartmoor for the first time on monday.
back onto the subject, train as much as u can, but once u get here, train ur mind and the phys will come automatically.

funny old thing
