Try this site although it's RLC I believe that the RCT merged with them mid 90's.

Good luck with finding your dad Kim, just remember that even if you do, he may be nothing like you hoped.
Please make sure you have a decent support network (friends/family) to help you deal with however it turns out...
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

The best people to help you in all of this is the Salvation Army, yes I know it sounds daft but they do have a team that do this. Now they will trace him and inform him that you would like to contact him then it is up to him. They will tell you if they have found him dead or alive BUT this could take months as they have a lot of other people to trace as well.

Try registering the details here. http://www.missing-you.net/
The site is populated by hobbyist researchers. The service is free. They found someone on another forum I'm with who was looking for someone he hadn't seen for 20yrs. Found her within 20mins! Even had their married name and place of work. Quite scary really! (The hubby wasn't overly pleased however!)

Also, try the British Legion website under 'Lost Trails' where you can enter his details.
http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/remembr ... ils-search

Your dad would have been part of 4th Armoured Division Transport Regiment RCT based at Minden
Register your dads details on here too:
http://www.forcesreunited.org.uk/

Use this link to get a copy of his service record:
http://www.veterans-uk.info/service_rec ... cords.html

Even if it doesn't track down your dad immediately you'll probably be surprised at how many people may have known him or can fill in some additional info for you.

As Hyper says, also register on the ARRSE website and put a query in under the following directory:
http://www.arrse.co.uk/rlc/
LOADS of ex-RCT donkey wallopers on there....

The wonderful world wide web.... it's wonderful innit...

Now I WAS tempted to ask why this had been posted under the Royal Navy section when your dad was in the Army..... .....but I don't want to have my head bitten off like Tab had with our mate gems.....

Hyper? Can you do the honours and move this to the Army Reunions board?

Ta luv...
