RMR - Close Protection ??

Post by tomcw »

Good afternoon people,

I've been reading these forums for awhile now so thought it was time to register and add afew posts.

I'm currently considering joining the RMR tyne (i live in leeds so think this is the closest for me) my question now is: Does anyone know if RMR has a speciality relating to CLOSE PROTECTION ??

or if the reserves offer anything relating to military police ??

POST EDITED TO REMOVE PERSONAL DETAILS.

There are people on here who could do a better job at answering this then me, but as far as I know It's RMP and RAF police who do most of the CP stuff.

Thanks for the swift reply there mate. I have researched into this lately and found SAS 21 have (among MANY other things) a good CP reputation.

I'm not sure if RMP is available on a 'reserve' basis ?? or am I wrong ?? anyone got any info it would be greatly appreciated.

If you do go for SASR mate, make sure you don't mention anything about working on the circuit in the future, it WON'T go down well!!
There is no fear, there is only the force.

I think the corps still has the Royal Marines Police who can do a CP course dont know a lot about it to be honest!

Is said that Paddy Ashdown, Ex-bootneck, SF and Big Man in Kosovo would only have Royal Body guards

pop in to your local AFCO they should have the booklet with all the SQ's in!

You can do RMP reserve and RAF police reserve (tactical provost wing) If you have a look on the RAF reserve website It does say you can specialise In CP. I have spoken to the RAF reserve police on the phone about a year ago with a view to moving services, the stuff the bloke on the end of the phone was telling me to do with there training and the things they get up to did sound very interesting.

Hostage negotiator on here might be able to shed a bit more light on them (unless I have It wrong what he does for a living In which case I apologise for name dropping)

RAFP, RMP and RM Police Trp are the only CP operatives in HMF who are qualified in CP, Very few reservists have ever been allowed to attend the pre-selection, selection and course and I can count on one hand how many have passed it! UKSF do not qualify as CPO's, BG's any more. They may be assigned to look after an individual but this merely reflects their high levels of military skills and the fact that some principals watch too much tv and think that SF must be the best at every milskill going! Not a pop at SF, more at the uninformed who believe everything they read or see on tv.
Hope this helps in some small way.

To do Cp civvy side you have to have completed a SIA recognised course and hold a SIA ticket. Apart from one of the many CP schools offering courses the only other recongnised routes are that in which HN has mentioned.

21 lads completed a course at a school I was once at so to my knowledge have no internal process.

This only counts if you want to enter the circuit as a civvy.

For the pit most coys require SIA and a military background, aged over 25 and 2 to 3 operational tours (not remfing it either)

Most coys that are decent are only recognising courses attended run by certain coys such as Anubis etc some are even frowned upon such as the BBA.

The pit circuit ranges from convoy and static to standard Cp work and worldwide the circuit is expanding to cover the ancient merc work in africa etc under the disguise of convoy / static work.

If you are under age and havent done the time in or courses then dont even consider the circuit and if anyone is offering you a course then avoid it, they are just after your cash

Plus, it might be worth getting your basic under your belt and some experience to boot before you consider "specializing". If you want to do the CP operator thing afterwards, there are tons of outfits out there and many do their own selection/training.

Tripple Canopy is a popular one with the Canucks.
