RA Gunner

Post by cc123 »

Any RA guys on this forum? I've decided to go for RA Gunner and after passing my BARB got more information on how training is structured.
I'm looking for a good career thats going to be varied and far travelled. Just wondering how it shapes up to other branches of the Army? Dunno wot I'm trying to ask but any information on this career choice would be much appreciated!

My dad was in 40th field RA for 22 years...always tells me a lot of stories about where he's been in the world...He really enjoyed his Army life!
Good choice!
Good luck,mate!

Just passed my BARB. Trying to apply for RA. I probably know about as much as you. I know there's a few choices as to what gun you get trained on, AS90, Light gun, MLSR etc. what area you from? The posting you'll get depends on where you are from.

We have a couple of old RA men who where airborne gunners in our Association. I have put many of his photo's on the web on the British Small wars site , Suez/Radfan/Borneo.

You have a date for selection yet? I'm waiting for a date. I'm going gunner too so you might be on the same one as me.

We were never asked to run and if it meant not being called up I am sure I could do the 100 yards in hour, they did not even ask us to take the oath of allegiance, they just wanted our bodies
