Para Regt association query.

Post by timex »

One for the "Old and Bold" amongst you lot...

My uncle is approaching 95 and my family are trying to get him a birthday card from the Para Regt association, problem is he is a bit of a loner and won't speak to anyone about his service and therefore we cannot get his Army number. (Doesn't do reunions either)!

The whole family knows that he was one of the first into the Para's and was extremely fortunate to survive Arnhem by swimming the river to escape, other than that nothing, nada, zilch he can't even be bothered to dig out his medals..he still wears an old Red beret that he's had for as long as I can remember.

Any thoughts?

Timex, some people, and i know a few, don't want anything to do with there passed life in the forces.
It may not be appreciated what your trying to do.
Without his history and regimental number it could also be difficult.
Good luck in your efforts.

Timex just joined and read your post. Did you get a birthday card for your uncle? I can send you a Christmas card from the PRA for your uncle.

Yes we did it turned up last week, apparently his face was a picture! My aunty managed to get his service number using the "bet you can't remember your number" ploy!

Bytheright, I'll send you a pm.
