Too silly a question to ask my PTI

I've always been keen to keep my fitness at a reasonable standard. So I've always done my own running as well as the PT I do at my regiment.
But recently I've started running with 10-15lbs on my back and I was just wondering if this would improve my fitness more than running normally. And make me faster and lighter on my feet when I run without the weight on my back.
I do feel abit daft asking this question, therefore I'm asking this website rather than my PTI.

keep building up your weight gradually try walk/run run for a period of time walk for a period of time with the weights tighten up stomach and leg muscles this I find always helps.

running with weight on could cause more damage than actual good, for example shin splints.. if you insit on running with weight on your back then gradual is the way forward.
