Personal Journey back to WW1

Post by Jeusdeus »

Back in 97 I did a bit of work on the family history. It popped up some interesting results with my family involvement in world war 1.

I found a relation I didn't know along with some details on my Grandfathers brother. They happened to die a year and a day apart. One in the somme and the other near to Ieper.

The blog http://bit.ly/QM4rr7 tells a bit of their story and has a video of when I took my Dad out to visit the Graves on the 90th Anniversary in 2007. This year was the 95th and I am looking to get back for the 100th in 2017

As a matter of interest the Red Cross are putting all their detailed records on line in 2014. This will shed a load of light and better detail on areas that are currently a mystery. (The Kew records office having been bombed in WW2 means some bits are a bit sketchy)

Hope you like the post
