paras in FAKLANDS

Post by bosh »

Good evening . Im not sure what section this should of been posted on ..but seeing as there are some historical points in it I thought this one maybe the place. The particular bits I was intrested in was the marines couldnt pass the para course...and the 400 paras going on exercise and ending up fighting argies...and the paras letting all there ammo off as that seems a strange event to happen in the least

Any input would be gratefully rx

I lifted this of another fourum

vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

a fking Green Beret ?
?

With army issue ?

Now that explains why he bashes me so much .you know ? just sitting there letting every one else do the hard work whilst he sits there slagging it all off .

Green Berets hate Paratroopers big time .

The main reason is because of one thing .

Paratroopers are simply better at it then sailors with soldiers uniforms on .

You see it works like this .

Both sections on the armed forces do EXACTLY the same type of Commando training but Parras are simply the BEST !

Now thats just a little bit different don't you think ?

Because of Military red tape , Any soldiers even a Parra is not allowed to leave their force and join the Marines , but the marines are allowed to leave their service and join the Parras or the army in general .
but guess what ?

In 1991 ( way back then ) even ONLY 1 marine made it through Parra trooper training . ONE !
ONE MARINE !

To this date I think it still stands although I am not sure .

If you want to make it into the SAS, no matter how good you are , now matter what group of armed service you go through , if the SAS have sent you an invite ( because you only get into the SAS by invite ) YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH DEPOT PARRA 1ST !
If you don't make it through that , they will not select you end stop .
SO ------even if you were the best in your training , the top guy in your platoon , and even if you did go through all that basic training 1st , you will still have to go through 6 months and 2 weeks basic training at depot Parra end stop .

WHY ?

because if you don't make it through there , you ain't got what it takes to be an SAS specialist .

it is also why the Parratroopers are the only uniformed armed service to ware their Maroon Beret at Buckingham palace .
NO OTHER SERVICE CAN WARE THEIR BERRET NOT EVEN SAILERS IN ARMY ISSUES .
they have to ware flat hats because of the shape of their heads . LOL.
they are not worthy basically putting it .

So , now I understand the flack I get .

It might also explain why the specialists got shot in the Argentine war back in 82 .

Mainly because the Marines shot them on their way back to RP.

In the Falklands , 400 Parras lifted off for an army exercise . ( so they were told ) and when they got to the Falklands they finally found out it was for a real war .
The thing about this was that most had filled their Burgans with pillows to make their packs look bigger .

they had hardly NO kit !

so what they did , was to give the Argentines a display of power and let off EVERY SINGLE BULLET THEY HAD ina rain storm of fire power leaving nearly every single rifle EMPTY of ammunition .

The last stand of the Argentinians was taken down by 400 agressive and determined Parras fighting close quaters in a state of hand to hand combat .

The sight of this agreesive and determined force coupled with the earlier display of power ( quite a gamble don't you think ) forced 1600 Argentinians surrendered !

1600 !

Thats 400 Fkn Parras taking the mass of 1600 men with nothing in their rifles .

Now thats fkn training for ya .

what guts and determination those troops had .

and guess what ?
Not a pop shot taken from a safe haven .

yet guess who took the glory and put up the English flag right at the end of that war ?

yep you've got it , Sailors ! with ARMY ISSUES .

The moral of this true story is ,

You,ll always find some C+NT taking the glory of raising the flag on some one elses acomplishments !

The Para's and Commando's don't hate each other, but they are extremely competitive. Now if there is any chance of combat the Para's will go with any thing they can lay their hands on, that is why they are the Armies first choice when any thing happens, just point them in the right direction and they are off and no arguments about kit or any thing else. Also they keep there kit ready for a 24 hour standby so they can be off in no time flat.

Thank you for your reply... This is not a wind up by the way it was posted on another forum and I CDNT beleive what I was reading.

I was after a bit more about what was said ie...the paras thinking they were going on exercise and stuffing there bergans with pillows ...and then ending up in the Falklands

Also that the paras fired off all there ammo in a show of fire power before assaulting a position....seems a very strange tactic indeed

Also only 1 marine passing the para course :shocked!:

Ive worked with both and have found them the most highly trained and organized units. Of course there is a bit of banter between them...as with all regiments....but I always found they talked with respect about each other as well !!!! :)

Reports from the battle at Goose Green did say that the Para's put a huge amount of fire power to impress the Argentina forces at Goose Green. They were impressed and decided that surrender was the better option, you have to remember that they had haul every thing that needed on their backs so supplies were limited.
