Written from the point view of Private E.P.F. Lynch, this tells the story of Lynch's time with the A.I.F. in WW1 during the years of 1916-1919.
A very easy read and one which takes you to the heart of one man and his sections time on the front line. The accounts are taken from notes lynch penned in 1921 and have then been edited slightly for the book.
However, from the start you can see that the edit has mearly tidied up the original notes. The way the story is told keeps you hoocked and the matter of fact way Lynch describes what must have been very scary moments just shows how men just got on with war. At the same time he gives you a feel for the sad conditions they had to servive in.
I bought my hardback copy from Tesco for £10 and I've got to say I feel like I've ripped them off.
A fantastic book for anyone with even the remotest interest in WW1
