Waking it up - again .....
'Cos it's worth it - that's why ....
654 CS Squad from March/April 1956 now number twenty three souls !
We're still searching - and have time for stragglers -
some were always late for parade.
Amazing this internet thingy .... I can find people all over the place .....
Easier if they owe me money mind .....
Howay the lads - By the way - I saw that the Toon held out very well
against the village team from Norway last week - 1 -1 against Lillestrøm !
Gan on - ask yer Granda / or yer Grannie if she knew anyone in 654 -
and tell 'em there's still time like - 27 October is the bash....

Ta muchly Both !
I'm checking my diary - and will do my best to make the RMA Reunion
as well this year .....
I'd march with you lot anywhere -
The Country Club in September is well worth a visit - and I'm very
curious about the 'Gizzit' - another Tiger Beer from your vast store ?
No remarks on the Lillestrøm vs Newcastle game then ?
'aye

Waking it up again - because it's NOW like ....
I'm orf to Blighty and the CTC termorrer - 25th
Can't believe that the day is finally here !
Twenty three of us now and only three excused boots on the day !
27th is the Fiftieth Anniversary of 654 CS Squad and we shall grace the
Parade ground and renew our memories of the Drill Shed -
Sorry I missed the 60th RMA Re-union - too close to 'our' stunt - never mind - I'll try for next years. Won't be the same I know - but still.....
Have to keep these squaddies of mine meeting up or it'll be difficult
to round 'em up again for our Sixtieth
Looking forward to meeting the lads in the Kings Squad of the Day -
Grand......
all the best,
Pilgrim at Dolphin

Well well Si - I was the one either sticking up or taking down the
posters I'd had made up of our Fiftieth Anniversary - and I
promised to send over a copy for the 'Wall'...... We'll need it there
for our Sixtieth or whatever
JR - you are the veritable Three Badger - Fantastic rabits you produce -
I knew that I should have made it to the 60th !
First Tiger Beer at the 59th and now a mug - you really are priceless -
Once the awe and elation has lessened - and the tide has gone out a bit
( still have a high water tidal thingy round the eyeballs, Adam's apple
still rotating ) I'll come back 'ere with a sitrep on the Reunion.
As I've said - "Every man should have a day like that"......
The day was extremely well planned by the lads on the ground in the UK.
32 met up - some with wives, a couple of us without.
Everyone had a ball. Peel away a few lines here and there - subtract a
few kilo, re-colour the hair a shade darker, leave the walking sticks in the hall, mask over the second pace maker, have a tot or two and the years
just roll away....... the walk, the talk is just the same.
Perhaps even better than during training - in those days we had enough
just trying to stay 'with it' - now we'd already been there, done that and
could relax - haven't had so much fun for yonks. Some had served
together but some had not met up since training. Fantastic.
I will still continue to try tracing others of our number - they deserve it.
The bottom line here is that 654 now have a network - and will stay in
touch, have meetings 'now and then' - the wives know each other and
all is well with the world.
If you others don't want to end up having your Reunion in a 'phone box -
you'd best be starting now like ...... I assure you - it IS worth the effort.
The day was also the big day for the Kings Squad - 916
We had no opportunity to talk to them - but we wished them well via their
parents who were present ( watching us old duffers stagger past ).
Just do it - because you're worth it.....
