Definitely not Crab Air...

"In July 2004 it was announced that the role of providing Ground Based Air Defence was to be transferred to the Army and the four Royal Air Force Regiment Rapier squadrons (15 Sqn; 16 Sqn; 26 Sqn and 37 Sqn) are to be disbanded.

The phased timings associated with this phased programme will allow the Army’s Royal Regiment of Artillery to take over the overall UK Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) in a progressive manner."

http://www.armedforces.co.uk/raf/listings/l0041.html

Basically a response to the overall lack of enemy/potential enemy aircraft! Although I believe the Iranians have some fast jets that Saddam lent them during the first Gulf war, which they forgot to give back. Oh hang on, my mistake, the Iranians arent the enemy.

The whole idea of the Corps is that it provides organic support to itself at every level. ADT being removed is another example of Perce getting Whitehall to chip chip chip. It`s a bad thing as far as I can see. :(

Shrek, what gig are you doing at CTC?
Besides fanny magnet/stacks rate obviously 8)

No idea yet fella, i would like to go back down the All Arms again, however we shall see.

I think you are right refrence the corps, we are suppost to be self sustained how can we do that if all these branches are disapearing, now Pay as you dine is coming as well means the chefs could find them selves unemployed as well, it sounds to me like cogs are in motion and this may be the start of the corps evolving into something else what with the man power shortage as well, it wont be long before we are nothing more than just another infantry unit.

I was down the AACC at the end of 05 to about March 06, I mega enjoyed it down there, a lot of lads hate Lympstone as a draft i think its a great draft, mabey its just the stigma you attach to the place after training that makes lads hate it.

Heyup Shrek, back in one piece then?

Oppo of mine went home a bit early to go on course, thought it was Air Defence? Done somewhere near Warminster? If I have got the right course, seems odd they're still running courses if they're disbanding it...having said that god only knows how pusser thinks
