Advice Required

Post by Orsen »

Hello Gents. Can anyone advise me here. My son (17) is to apply for RM this year.
He has had minor surgery on both knees (removal of foreign bodies).
One of his (so called) mates has told him that RM will not accept anyone who has had surgery or a broken bone,
until 5 years after the event.
I think this is just a bit of jealousy from said mate, because of my lads chosen career. But it has spooked him a bit.
As ex RMR (25 years ago) I find it hard to believe, there were plenty of injuries when I went through my training,
but I suppose times have changed.
I have tried to get onto the Royal Navy website for the PRMC forum, but you have to be serving or have serving family to register for that particular site now.
Any comments or advice would be greatfully recieved.
Thanks

Cheers for that. Had clicked on "friend or family" rather than "interested in RN"

Your best bet is to contact the AFCO, give them a quick telephone call.
They expect all sorts of questions like this! So will probably be able to answer or find out quickly.
Best of luck. 8)
