Royal Navy Questions
Alright, just registered on this forum this evening and have a few questions regarding entry into the Royal Navy.
I have visited my careers office and spoke briefly about joining up as a CIS(communication, information specialist) and they mentioned the requirements for joining etc.
I am interested in joining for the simple fact of making a difference and being able to travel the world.
My first question relates to the humanitarian side. I know the royal navy helped out alot during the time of various hurricanes in the Caribbean and was wondering what would be a good trade in the navy if i wanted to help with disaster relief etc?
I guess all personnel would be called upon when visiting a port.
Also, in your opinion, what is the best trade in the navy?
hope you guys/ladies can help
cheers

Hello canny lad - I noticed your 'bum p'
How did you get past that Royal Marine Recruiter then ?
He got me - 1956 - that's when Gateshead still had a football team !
Someone will be by to help out on your questions -
I reckon that the best job is Admiral
And - in my day the majority of disasters were CAUSED by the Navy . . .
take care,

Geordie try this site: http://www.navy-net.co.uk/cpgn2/index.php?prevtheme=RN
You should get a better/quicker response on there as it's a site mainly for serving Navy bods.

Splash Target Coxswain or STC as it is more commonly known.Geordie_Navy wrote:

as a person onboard say a frigate in the carribean islands offering distaster releif for the islands, you will most probably get stuck in whatever job your doing onboard there only 180 people on a frigate so you could be part of the heavy lifting team, first aid team, pumping an flooding...the list is endless mate last distaster excerise i did i was part of the boats crew ferrying ships crew and stores ashore forthe relief effort.
hope that helps
