Principal RF/ Analogue Engineer

BAE Systems is looking for a Principal RF/ Analogue Engineer to work on cutting edge technology development for marine and land radar applications. As a Principal RF/ Analogue Engineer, you will be working on a range of long term development projects at various stages in the engineering life cycle, and playing a key role in delivering products which will be fitted to platforms such as the Type 26 Combat Ship.


Your main responsibilities as a Principal RF/ Analogue Engineer will involve:

Acting as the SME on RF/Analogue issues with regards to the current and future product set within the Radar area

Development of complex RF and analogue systems and sub-systems from conception through to release into service

Requirement acquisition, analysis, and derivation of lower level requirements

Design of electronic assemblies including component selection, schematic capture, and support to PCB layout

Specification of bespoke procured items

Verification of components, sub-systems, and systems using a combination of simulation, analysis, test, and assurance techniques

Maintenance of existing designs and implementation of technology insertion programmes

Monitor technical developments in relevant fields and contribute to their assessment and embodiment into product

Following the engineering lifecycle, undertaking and contributing to design reviews


Your skills and qualifications as a Principal RF/ Analogue Engineer must include:

Degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or closely related engineering field

Experience of working within defence sector

Experience of designing high power transmitter systems and high spec receiver systems

Track record of creating component level designs for volume production

Experience of integration and defect resolution


Your skills and qualifications as a Principal RF/ Analogue Engineer will ideally include:

Safety accredited with high voltage equipment

EMC qualification to DEF STAN 59-411


What we're looking for in you:

We are looking for you to have great attention to detail when analysing the product and its’ design specifications. You must also be comfortable with working in an environment where you will be carrying out long-term development, with some products taking years to go from design through to delivery to the customer. You must also be a strong collaborative worker, and able to engage and communicate with other engineering teams as required.
