Medical deferral

My daughter went thru basic training last year and started phase 2 dog handling in march.
She decided to quit the army because, at 17, she wasn't emotionally ready.
Anyway she has seen the error of her ways and has reapplied and been accepted!!

However today we have received a letter saying she has been medically deferred for 2 years
Due to having a lactose intolerance test in August this year!
It was negative.
She is devastated and is now considering appealing.
Does anyone have any experience of this?

Lactose.......As this is a food allergy do you expect the armed forces to provide a special diet where ever she goes, and what happens if she can't get a special diet due to unforeseen circumstances and gets very ill is the Military to blame.

As i mentioned before- The test was negative.
If she did have a food intolerance I would certainly not expect the army to provide a special diet.
She was with the army for almost a year and was not sick once.

I would suggest that you get her checked out by her local doctor then armed with his report if it is negative appeal.

That happens sometimes,It happened to a friend of mine and he got selected in the first test but after a while they refused because of his eye sight was having a bit of weakness that's normal you should wait and reapply.

I think the pertinent question here is why did she have the test?
It's not something you just decide to do...
You'll probably find it's down to whatever symptoms she had that prompted her to get the test, rather than the test itself.

It should still be reported in the file because it could cause an accident.
