Hi guys I'm starting phase 1 training in this September and with a history of family hearing problems and barely scraping a pass on the ADSC hearing test due to tinnitus, I know I'm susceptible myself and want to ask what ear protection is currently issued to line infantry and if it's worth investing in the electronic noise-cancelling earmuffs?
I'm most interested in the low profile in-ear type electronic noise cancelling type of protection rather than big bulky ear muffs, but ultimately want to go with a product that has been on the market a while and has a proven track record of reliability.
All personal experience/recommendations welcome.
Don't really know much about the ear protection but you can always inquire to the local infantry in charge of the medical supplies for all incoming army soldier. Having tinnitus is not easy, especially if you have to deal with it your whole life. I can totally relate because I also had ear infection before and till my last day I cannot let water get inside my ear or else the infection will re-occur, so I have no choice but to use ear buds whenever I take a bath or go swimming.
